Cyprus transport minister Alexis Vafeades announced plans for the Cyprus Ports Authority to undertake the redevelopment of the marina and port in Larnaca, pending cabinet approval. The authority is expected to present a roadmap for the projects by 30 June.

According to a report by Tom Cleaver of the Cyprus Mail, plans for the marina include increasing capacity to 200 vessels and developing around five hectares of nearby land for urban use. The waterfront areas between the marina and the port are also expected to be connected and provide direct public access between the two sites.
In a statement, the ports authority welcomed the government’s decision, describing the redevelopment as “a strategically significant project for both Larnaca and the wider Cypriot economy”. The authority said the plans aim to create a “modern, functional and sustainable coastal and maritime hub to support economic growth and urban development in the area”.
The marina and port were previously managed under an agreement with Kition Ocean Holdings, which ended in May 2024 after a dispute over financial guarantees.
After the agreement ended, the port returned to the ports authority, while the marina remained under the transport ministry. The government later decided to split the marina and port redevelopment into separate projects.
In 2025, the government appointed GrowthFund, formerly linked to the Hellenic Republic Asset Development Fund, to prepare studies and development plans for both sites.
