A new marina and mixed-use development has been proposed for a 14.5-acre site in Crisfield, a coastal town in Somerset County, Maryland. The project includes plans for marina berths, housing, hospitality venues, event spaces and commercial areas.

Crisfield is currently home to Somers Cove Marina, a 515-slip facility offering access to the Chesapeake Bay’s Tangier Sound. The marina supports both transient and seasonal boaters, with amenities such as boat ramps, electric hookups, event pavilions and bathhouses. It regularly hosts fishing tournaments, community gatherings and boating events.

Following an event on nearby Smith Island, The Crab Place owners Greg and Matt Cain, along with Salisbury-based developer Davis Strategic, were joined by Governor Wes Moore for a site visit to the proposed development area known as the Seventh Street Marina project.

The site visit was part of an event in Somerset County highlighting recent infrastructure upgrades, including the completion of a broadband installation project on nearby Smith Island. Funded by the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, the project extended internet speed to over 200 households and businesses on the remote island.

If approved, the marina and mixed-use development could attract approximately $100 million USD in private investment and create over 100 permanent jobs.
