A new communal port will be constructed in Brna on Korčula Island, following the signing of a €536,000 contract with Marinetek Adriatic. The project, commissioned by the Port Authority of Dubrovnik-Neretva County, will provide 80 berths for local residents and includes coastal improvements and floating breakwaters.

The signing ceremony took place at the Municipality of Smokvica and was attended by Antun Banovac, Director of the Port Authority and Zoran Cvitan of Marinetek Adriatic, who formally signed the agreement. Deputy County Prefect Joško Cebalo, Smokvica Mayor Ljubo Kunjašić and members of the municipal council were also present.

Marinetek Adriatic will deliver and install four floating pontoon breakwaters with the necessary anchoring systems and equipment. Construction is expected to take 90 days from the date the site is handed over to the contractor.

Deputy County Prefect Joško Cebalo stated: “In the recent period, Dubrovnik-Neretva County has completed 800 communal berths across its territory, and currently our county port authorities are preparing project-technical documentation for more than 1,200 new berths.”

Marinetek Adriatic has completed several previous infrastructure projects on Korčula Island, including the ports at Porto Uš and Račišće. These projects, managed by the Port Authority, have been part of an ongoing regional effort to support local communities through maritime development.
