The Brazilian company BR Marinas has completed a corporate restructuring that marks a new chapter in its trajectory as the current largest marina operator in Latin America.

CEO Gabriela Lobato Marins and partner Tammo Schlottke have acquired the remaining shares from Grupo Axxon, the Icatu family’s holding and Denise Lobato, consolidating full ownership and operational leadership.
The move positions BR Marinas to continue its expansion in the Brazilian nautical sector, particularly in the state of Rio de Janeiro, where it currently operates a network of ten marinas.
BR Marinas Group has expanded gradually since its formation in 2010. Starting from two locations in Angra dos Reis, the group now manages a broader network supported by a workforce of more than 340 employees.
CEO Gabriela Lobato Marins stated: “The nautical market here has immense potential. BR Marinas has mapped out Brazil and already knows its next steps.”

The company’s portfolio includes Marina Verolme, which houses 490 dry berths and 80 wet berths accommodating yachts up to 40-metres. Located in the Costa Verde region, Marina Bracuhy offers 125 dry berths and 320 wet berths up to 50-metres, serving as a base to explore Angra and Paraty.
Marina da Glória, the only urban and public marina in Brazil, provides dry storage for 180 boats up to 13-metres (43-feet) and 220 wet berths for vessels up to 80-metres.
Alongside its operational scale, BR Marinas continues to emphasise environmental management. In 2024, the marina network obtained ISO 14001 certification for its Glória and Paraty locations. The company has implemented desalination at Marina Verolme, supports recycling and waste programmes, and collaborates on marine fauna monitoring and educational initiatives.

In recent years, the company has also introduced vessel handling systems for the growing number and size of recreational boats along the Brazilian coast. The increase in maritime tourism, especially in the post-pandemic context, has driven additional infrastructure investment and service upgrades across its network.
“We are proud of what we have built in Brazil and believe that local experiences can contribute to the international dialogue on the future of the sector. We want to continue learning, exchanging experiences and moving forward,” said Lobato Marins.
In October 2025, BR Marinas will represent Brazil at the ICOMIA World Marina Conference in Venice, where it will join global peers to discuss trends and future directions in marina operations and coastal development.
