Bonifacio Marina in Corsica, France, has retained its Ports Propres and Ports Propres Actifs en Biodiversité certifications for 2026 after an audit in early March. The review took place during ongoing works at the marina, including upgrades to the fuelling station and other on-site facilities.

Bonifacio Marina is located at the southern tip of Corsica within an inlet surrounded by limestone cliffs. It lies along maritime routes connecting Spain, Italy, France and Greece, and much of the surrounding area remains under strict protection, supported by the Bouches de Bonifacio Nature Reserve and the International Marine Park.
The marina receives more than 10,000 visiting vessels each year and provides around 350 berths, including 150 for visiting yachts. Services at the marina include mooring assistance, water and electricity, as well as direct access to nearby shops and restaurants.
Work at the site has included the relocation and modernisation of the fuel station, the refurbishment of sanitary facilities and the installation of a temporary harbourmaster’s office.
The audit noted maintained cleanliness across the marina, alongside continued engagement with port professionals, including service providers operating under AOT agreements, and highlighted the use of two DPOL robots to collect floating macro-waste in more exposed areas.
Further observations referred to communication policy, including outreach to school groups to encourage long-term environmental practices, and noted that most staff are trained under the European ‘Clean Ports’ standard, with the port director acting as a trainer.
Bonifacio has chosen long-term investment to manage resources and address climate pressures, with a focus on water supply. A new water treatment plant is now in service, while work continues to improve water networks and support projects such as the reuse of treated wastewater.
