The partnership covers tourist port development, maritime culture, sailing and sustainable growth in coastal areas. It supports responsible development of tourist ports, encourages the application of blue economy principles in local contexts, and backs institutional, technical-scientific, educational and promotional initiatives of shared interest.

Planned work includes monitoring and analysing data on port flows, organising projects and events with local communities, and providing training in safety, hospitality and sustainability.

The agreement highlights the ports meeting defined standards in service quality, environmental responsibility, accessibility and innovation, while encouraging sporting activities and community participation. Sailing is recognised as consistent with marine environmental protection, inclusion of people with disabilities and the education of younger generations, contributing to sustainable coastal development.

Francesco Ettorre, president of FIV, said the agreement strengthens dialogue between the sailing community and coastal areas and promotes projects that combine maritime culture, sustainability and community growth. He described it as a “concrete step towards bringing the benefits of sailing to places where tourism already pursues high standards”.

Walter Vassallo, president of Blue Marina Awards, said the protocol reflects a shared vision for more sustainable, welcoming, innovative and safe marinas. He added that the Blue Marina Awards, described as a national ecosystem based on data and indicators, brings together expertise and projects to improve quality and competitiveness across the sector.
