Approved during a meeting of the board of directors of Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena, the overall investment is expected to upgrade marina facilities, infrastructure and daily port operations.

The largest share of the investment will go towards the refurbishment of the nautical centre buildings. The €2,790,034.65 project (about $3.2 million) will renovate the facilities to meet current needs in the nautical sector and improve services for marina users and professionals.

Other approved works include the relocation of transformers in the Malapesquera area for €643,867.15 (more than $750,000), as well as the installation of new access-control barriers valued at €75,300 ($88,000).

A further €95,082 ($111,000) contract was approved for containment and shelter structures around the harbour entrance to help protect the marina against storms and improve conditions at the port entrance.

Inaugurated in 1982, Benalmádena Marina provides more than 1,000 berths for vessels between six and 35 metres in length, along with commercial, residential and leisure areas covering around four hectares. The marina also includes a fuel station, a 50-tonne travel lift, water and electricity connections, and an auditorium within the nautical centre building.
