According to The Portugal News, Mayor António Reis said the marina had been discussed for years and is now moving forward following the completion of coastal protection works. He added that the council had approved the tender unanimously during its most recent meeting.

The development plan includes a 225-metre breakwater, an 80-metre jetty, a reclaimed area of 3,500sqm, pedestrian walkways, dredging of the basin and access channel, floating docks, fuel supply facilities, service buildings, safety and control installations, and utility connections. These works are expected to enhance the island’s capacity for nautical tourism and recreational boating.
