The Association of Marina Industries (AMI) has released a request for proposals inviting organisations and subject matter experts to develop a marina resilience curriculum to help marina operators prepare for climate-related risks.

Association of Marina Industries

AMI’s training work in the marina sector dates back to 1986, when the Association of Marina Industries Training Institute, then known as the International Marina Institute, was established to address the lack of professional training opportunities in the industry.

In 2022, the organisation launched the Clean and Resilient Marina Program, which includes the Clean and Resilient Marina Professional (CRMP) certification and an accreditation scheme for marinas. The two-day CRMP course covers environmental regulations, green marina practices and guidance on applying best management practices at marina facilities. The programme has now certified 246 CRMPs and accredited 93 marinas.

Issued on 2 March 2026, the newly released request seeks proposals to develop a course titled Marina Resiliency Curriculum – Preparedness, Response, Recovery and Long-term Planning. The training will be included in the Clean and Resilient Marina Program.

According to AMI, feedback from the marina sector showed a need for more detailed resilience training. While the current CRMP course introduces the topic, it does not examine operational or construction measures to reduce risks from rising water levels, stronger storms, drought or fire, or safety measures to protect marina users and staff.

The proposed curriculum aims to address these gaps and help marina operators prepare for incidents, respond to emergencies and plan for recovery and future conditions as extreme weather increasingly affects coastal infrastructure.

The organisation is seeking a partner to prepare around four hours of course material, including lecture content, case studies, visual materials, handouts and guidance for instructors.

Questions about the request for proposals can be submitted until 16 March 2026, while proposals must be submitted by 13 April 2026. AMI plans to notify the selected organisation on 15 May 2026.
