The Balearic Ports Authority (APB) has announced an investment programme of more than €9.4 million (over $10 million USD) for the Port of La Savina in Formentera. The plan covers the period 2025-2030 and focuses on infrastructure improvements, security enhancements and the management of port services and facilities.

A key element of the programme is the creation of a single marina model, which is expected to unify the management of moorings, commercial premises and parking spaces. The APB said it will remove duplication in administration, improve efficiency and provide a single point of contact for structural projects.
Infrastructure works include modernising Ro-Ro ramps at the commercial quays, scheduled for completion in 2026. The harbourmaster’s office second floor is being refurbished to support improved operations and services for marina users, while port fenders are being renewed to enhance safety during berthing.
The Port of La Savina serves as Formentera’s main maritime gateway, handling over one million passengers and cargo operations annually. It features a 280-metre breakwater with quays for passengers and cargo, mooring areas for recreational and fishing vessels, and a passenger terminal.
The APB is also advancing the “Special Plan” for the Port of La Savina. It has proposed a joint commission with the Consell de Formentera to review and update the plan so future developments align with broader port management and sustainability goals.
