Jolly Harbour Marina & Boatyard on Antigua’s west coast has added a Marine Travelift TM40 self-propelled transporter to support catamaran haul-out and storage. The development comes as the marina experiences increased traffic from multihull vessels.

The newly acquired transporter is designed for wide-beam vessels and includes external catamaran arms. It expands the marina’s existing lifting and transport capacity alongside its 85-tonne Marine Travelift boat hoist, and follows earlier infrastructure upgrades made to handle growing catamaran activity.

The Jolly Harbour team stated: “From the beginning, our primary objective was to find a dual-purpose solution capable of handling both catamarans and monohulls. While this transporter was specifically designed with catamarans in mind, its versatility enables us to efficiently service a wide range of vessels.”

Staff have nicknamed the transporter “Rover”. Yard staff report that it has improved vessel placement, allowing boats to be positioned more closely together despite the irregular layout of the yard. The dedicated catamaran yard now holds 37 vessels.

The team also commented: “Boats are packed extremely efficiently, and we can manage vessels from 23-28ft (seven- to nine-metre) beams with this transporter. This equipment, combined with our yard team’s expertise, has proven incredibly successful for catamaran storage.”
