The regional government of Andalusia is progressing its plan to digitalise the management of public ports across the region. The project is intended to provide efficiency, transparency and coordination within Andalusia’s port network.

The regional government has awarded a contract valued at approximately €462,037 (more than $500,000 USD) for the development and implementation of a new digital management system. The system will be applied to ports managed by the Agencia Pública de Puertos de Andalucía (APPA), which operates under the Ministry of Development, Territorial Planning and Housing.

APPA oversees 19 ports with almost 5,000 berths and 12 fishing facilities, as well as marinas and yacht clubs managed under concession agreements that provide more than 13,000 thousand berths.

The new digital platform is expected to simplify administrative tasks and make operations more consistent across facilities. The software selected for the project is already in use for managing port activities within the nautical sector.

The company responsible for the digitalisation has more than 25 years of experience and currently manages over 200 ports and marinas in Spain and Portugal.

Once in operation, the system will allow users to access services online, including checking berth availability and tariffs. It is also designed to access real-time information on administrative files and support electronic notifications.

For APPA staff, the system will automate parts of the workflow and introduce analytical tools to support decision-making. The initiative also includes staff training in digital skills and data management.
