Cap Sante Marina in Washington is preparing for its first major facility upgrade in decades, following a decision by the Port of Anacortes Commission to invest $2.1 million USD in new restroom and laundry spaces.

The unanimous vote, taken on 21 August, directs funding towards improvements at the north basin building and the west basin site, which also accommodates the harbour office and tenant suites, as reported by Nicholas Johnson of Skagit Valley Herald.
Located near downtown Anacortes, Cap Sante Marina offers moorage for vessels from seven to 20 metres (26-66ft), with supporting services including showers, laundry, Wi-Fi and launch facilities. The planned upgrades are intended to improve everyday access for boaters while aligning with wider redevelopment efforts around the waterfront.

The restroom and laundry renovation is a component of the Cap Sante North and West Basin Upland Redevelopment, an initiative shaped over the past decade. The programme aims to enhance connections between downtown and the waterfront, expand public amenities, improve pedestrian and vehicle circulation, and support economic activity through new development opportunities and preserved industrial access routes.
The approval also ties into the port’s wider 2025 capital budget. In a press release issued on 15 November 2024, the Port of Anacortes announced that $9.7 million from port funds and nearly $4 million in grant funding will support projects across Anacortes in 2025. These include dock rehabilitation, pier feasibility studies and redevelopment of the West Basin, alongside improvements to the airport and Rockwell Industrial Park.
