The Port Authority of Alicante has confirmed that legal proceedings tied to Specific Amendment No. 5 of its Special Plan have ended after the party behind the appeal withdrew the case. The proceedings concerned the planned superyacht marina at docks 10, 12 and 14, where Puerta del Mar y Ocio holds the concession for the project.

Spanning more than 11 hectares, the plan includes berths for vessels up to 50 metres, along with dining, retail, port services and waste management facilities. The concession runs for 10 years, with investment linked to the project raised to €15 million ($17 million USD).
The port authority said the plan targets an area of the port with limited activity, with expected effects during construction and operations including job creation and increased activity in local business sectors such as hospitality, retail and services.
Luis Rodríguez, president of the port authority, welcomed the end of the legal proceedings, describing it as “a decisive milestone that allows the project to move forward with confidence”.
The concession was first awarded in 2020 for a nautical-sports facility at the same location. In 2021, Puerta del Mar y Ocio requested changes to the original plans to allow larger vessels.
Reports from Alicante Plaza state that the company initially proposed increasing investment while also seeking a longer concession period, but the request was rejected due to the extension of operating time. A revised proposal was later submitted without asking for additional years on the concession.
Legal proceedings later concerned Amendment No. 5 of the port’s Special Plan, which was challenged in court after the High Court of Justice of the Valencian Community annulled it. The Supreme Court accepted an appeal from the Port Authority of Alicante in 2025 to review the decision.
The case focused on the coordination and timing of state port boundary planning and urban planning processes, including whether they can run at the same time if final approval aligns with approved port limits.
