The Port of Everett will begin a $6.75 USD million project in early September to rebuild the Segment E marina bulkhead and overwater wharf near Port Gardner Landing and the Grand Avenue Park Bridge. The work is expected to be completed by May 2026.

Awarded the contract in May 2025, Oregon-based Bergerson Construction will replace 50 metres (165ft) of ageing wooden bulkhead with steel sheet piles to support State Route 529/West Marine View Drive, a key commuter, freight and military corridor. The wharf above the bulkhead will be rebuilt with new decking and landscaping, offering safer pedestrian access and disability-accessible connections to the waterfront trail.

“We are so pleased to be able to start work on this critical infrastructure project that supports global trade, national defense and public safety,” said Port of Everett Executive Director/CEO Lisa Lefeber.

Segment E is the last section of the marina bulkhead to be replaced in a project that began in 2005. The structure stabilises the soil under SR 529/West Marine View Drive and helps prevent shoreline erosion.

Construction will reduce southbound West Marine View Drive traffic to a single lane while keeping northbound lanes open. Public access will be rerouted and the project timing avoids major summer events at the marina.

Environmental mitigation was completed earlier in 2025 with the removal of a derelict barge, partly funded by a state grant.
