The Corpus Christi City Council in Texas, United States, has approved a $6.6 million USD construction contract for new facilities and site improvements at the Corpus Christi Marina, supporting updated amenities for marina users along the downtown waterfront.

The council awarded the contract to B. E. Beecroft Company, Inc., a Corpus Christi-based firm, for work at the Coopers L-Head area of the marina. Funding for the project will come from the city’s Type A Sales Tax.
Plans include the construction of a new two-storey boaters’ facility with a total floor area of about 3,500sqft (325sqm). The building will provide public restrooms, shower and restroom facilities for marina tenants, a laundry room with washers and dryers, and space for meetings and storage.
Alongside the new building, part of the L-Head parking lot will be resurfaced and restriped. The work also includes new curbs and gutters, as well as limited landscaping intended to improve access and site conditions.
Construction is expected to begin in spring 2026, with completion scheduled for February 2027.
Jonathon Atwood, marina manager, said: “When completed, the new, fully equipped boaters’ facility at the Coopers L-Head will offer exciting new features for marina tenants and visiting boaters.”
Robert Dodd, director of parks and recreation, said: “The new boaters’ facility is part of a master plan to elevate our city’s prominent asset into a Coastal Bend premier marina, featuring new state-of-the-art floating piers, a sustainable boardwalk creating a world-class experience for our marina tenants, visiting boaters and everyone visiting our beautiful city’s bayfront.”
Located along the downtown waterfront, the Corpus Christi Marina provides more than 560 wet slips for pleasure and commercial vessels, including berths for vessels measuring 50ft (15 metres).
Amenities at the marina include a sanitary pump-out station, private showers and restrooms, laundry facilities, public boat ramps, dry storage and service yard areas, as well as a boat repair facility with a 25-tonne travel lift. The marina is within walking distance of restaurants, attractions and nightlife venues in central Corpus Christi.
