Seaside Park in New Jersey is planning renovations to its municipal marina at J Street, with officials consulting engineering firms to plan the improvements. The project is expected to start in late 2026, according to a report by Daniel Nee of Lavallette-Seaside Shorebeat.

The renovation will include replacing 2,300ft (701 metres) of bulkhead, adding new finger piers and upgrading the electrical and water systems. Councilman William Kraft mentioned that cost estimates from the three engineering firms are still pending.

The borough’s 2025 capital budget allocated $5 million USD for bulkhead and pier upgrades, which covers partial or full overhauls of ageing finger piers. Recent related work has included replacement of breakwaters at the marina entrance and $75,000 in water system improvements.

Councilman Marty Wilk said the marina upgrades are expected to be completed in about three phases to limit disruption for boaters. He also stated that the costs will be funded through the marina utility and contributions from slip holders.

Three engineering firms from the borough’s approved pool will submit proposals, which will be reviewed first by a council committee and then by the full governing body. Each phase is scheduled to be completed by 31 March 2027, ahead of the marina’s reopening on 1 April.
