Plans for the next phase of Nansha Marina in Guangzhou, China, have received administrative approval as a new cross-border yacht travel policy takes effect within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

The 17-hectare site, which opened in 2011, has 142 berths and can accommodate superyachts of up to 200ft (61 metres), supported by a one-hectare onshore area for maintenance, servicing and vessel lifting. Nansha Marina sits in Gangwan Subdistrict, about 200 to 800 metres downstream of the Humen Bridge in Guangzhou’s Nansha district.

Nansha has also established the Greater Bay Area (Nansha) yacht service centre at the marina, following the introduction of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao yacht free-travel policy in June this year. The centre provides mooring, repairs and maintenance, dining and accommodation, as well as assistance with entry and exit declarations, joint inspection appointments, maritime registration, customs clearance and berthing.

Phase III of the marina project will add 195 berths across seven hectares, with 117 for 40ft (12-metre) vessels and 72 for those up to 30ft (nine metres), plus three each for 50ft (15-metre) and 60ft (18-metre) vessels. Guangzhou Nansha Development and Construction Co., Ltd. is behind the 32.57 million yuan (about $4.8 million USD) project.
