Lyman-Morse has partnered with Colby College to relaunch a managed mooring field at Port Clyde Harbor in Maine, giving visiting boaters a new mooring option and supporting the college’s ongoing investment in the waterfront community.

Port Clyde is located at the end of Maine’s St. George Peninsula and has served as a working waterfront for commercial fishing, local businesses and visiting boaters. In 2023, a fire that began in a restaurant affected the area around the general store and boat line building.
Also on Maine’s Midcoast, Lyman-Morse’s operations include a yacht construction, refit and repair yard in Thomaston and a full-service marina with boatyard services in Camden. Port Clyde now joins its waterfront operations, with the mooring field offering 17 nightly rental moorings, alongside fuel, restrooms and showers.
Eric Beckman, service operations manager at Lyman-Morse, stated: “Lyman-Morse is excited to bring our waterfront expertise & management to Colby’s investment in the Port Clyde community.”
The partnership follows Colby College’s recent investment in Port Clyde through the purchase of multiple downtown properties, including the former general store site. The college plans to establish its Center for Resilience and Economic Impact, where scientists, economists and policymakers will work alongside Maine communities on issues such as changing fisheries, severe weather and economic uncertainty.
The redevelopment plans also include a new building with a street-level restaurant, community spaces and offices for the centre.
Paul Ureneck, assistant vice president of real estate for Colby College, said: “Our goal is to be a good neighbour and a long-term partner to the people of Port Clyde. Everything we’re doing starts with that commitment.”
