Lexington State Harbor on Lake Huron in Michigan is scheduled for infrastructure upgrades across 2026 and 2027, with marina operations affected at different points during the two-year period. Phased closures to slips, boating access and shoreside facilities are planned during the works.

Michigan Department of Natural Resources

Management of the harbour is shared between the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and the US Army Corps of Engineers. The upgrade schedule has been divided into four phases, each bringing temporary restrictions to access and services.

The first phase is planned for spring 2026, when dredging of the federal navigation channel will take place. During this period, the marina, fuel dock and sanitary pump-out station will be closed until 30 June 2026. The adjacent boating access site will remain unavailable until 8 September 2026.

Work will continue during summer 2026 with repairs to the breakwater surrounding the harbour. Slips numbered 11-29, 40-57, 78-86, 89-92 and 95-99 will be closed from 1 July to 8 September 2026. The boating access site will remain closed throughout this stage.

From 8 September 2026, attention will turn to replacing all in-water structures within the harbour. This stage will require a full closure of the marina, fuel dock and pump-out station, with work expected to continue until 28 May 2027.

The final phase is expected during summer 2027. Dredging inside the breakwater is planned to address sediment build-up within the harbour basin. This work may result in short-term closures affecting slips and boating access.

Lexington State Harbor offers more than 100 slips and is located about 20 miles north of Port Huron. The harbour sits within walking distance of the village of Lexington, where visitors have access to public parks, local services and seasonal community events.
