Following a successful inaugural year for IGY Marinas at Cala di Volpe, the company was appointed by Smeralda Holding to manage the mooring field on Sardinia’s Costa Smeralda. The move reflects a broader shift towards professionally managed and environmentally responsible mooring options in Mediterranean yachting destinations.

The Cala di Volpe mooring field is located approximately seven nautical miles south of Marina di Porto Cervo and comprises 18 secure buoys designed to accommodate yachts up to 150 metres. Developed with an emphasis on environmental preservation, the mooring system was envisioned by Smeralda Holding, the indirect concession holder of the mooring field and a wholly owned Italian subsidiary of the Qatar Investment Authority.
The mooring field provides access for yachts close to the Costa Smeralda’s popular cruising grounds. Its location also allows direct access to the facilities of Hotel Cala di Volpe, including its restaurants and bars. The site offers a range of support services, including water taxis, waste collection, provisioning, catering and shuttle transfers to shore.

The arrangement is particularly relevant for IGY Trident members, who benefit from guaranteed access to the Cala di Volpe moorings during busy periods. Membership also provides exclusive benefits across IGY’s global network of 24 marinas in 14 countries, including locations in the United States, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America and the Middle East.
