The Hector Quay Visitors Marina in Nova Scotia, Canada, is expected to reopen for the 2027 boating season following an ongoing redevelopment project led by the town of Pictou.

Town of Pictou

The marina is a municipal asset that has served local and visiting boaters for more than 20 years. It is located on the Northumberland Strait and operates within a sheltered harbour. The marina is commonly used by vessels travelling to Prince Edward Island and other nearby marinas.

The redevelopment focuses on increasing berth capacity and updating marina infrastructure. Planned works include the addition of a fuel station, improvements to water and electrical systems, and the installation of sewage pump-out services.

The project also includes updates to public areas around the marina. These include boardwalk spaces, vendor areas and facilities intended for public use alongside marina operations.

As redevelopment continues, the town of Pictou has issued a request for proposals seeking professional services to develop a new brand identity for the municipal marina. The branding work is intended to address visitor confusion between the marina and nearby heritage attractions, including Hector Heritage Quay, which is home to the Ship Hector and its interpretive centre.

The scope of the branding project includes the development of a brand strategy, a naming process and a visual identity system intended for tourism audiences, transient boaters and local community users. The branding materials are expected to be suitable for use across future waterfront and recreation assets.
