Marina Port Valencia on Spain’s eastern Mediterranean coast is upgrading its wastewater collection system through a phased project led by FLOVAC, nearly two decades after the infrastructure was installed for the 2007 America’s Cup.

FLOVAC is an engineering company specialising in the design and installation of vacuum sewerage systems, with the aim to expand the use of its technology across Spain and Latin America. At Marina Port Valencia, the company is upgrading the vacuum stations and wastewater collection network serving boats, yachts and shore-based buildings to maintain the system’s reliability over the long term.
The network connects vessel pump-out points and building drainage systems through pipes and valves to central vacuum stations, which generate the suction needed to transport wastewater. The system also uses air-operated collection valves that can function without a dedicated electrical supply at each point.
The first vacuum station is now operational, and FLOVAC plans to begin work on the second before the end of 2026. Renovation of the third station will follow at a later stage.
