Bali Benoa Marina marked a construction milestone on 21 June 2025 with the installation of four concrete floating pontoons, launching the water-based phase of development. The work is being led by Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) in partnership with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo).

The pontoons were installed by SF Marina under technical supervision from MDI. The event was witnessed by officials from the Ministry of Transportation and PT Pelindo Solusi Logistik (SPSL), a Pelindo subsidiary. The installation follows the project’s groundbreaking ceremony held a month earlier, on 22 May 2025.
Director General of Sea Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Muhammad Masyhud, commented: “This marks the first full-scale implementation of concrete pontoons in a marina setting in Indonesia, and the Ministry is fully committed to closely overseeing the deployment of this advanced technology.”

A total of 11 concrete pontoons, ranging from 14.5 to 34-tonnes, will be installed at Dock B, which is designed to support 48 yacht berths. Dock B is expected to begin commercial operations in November 2025. Each pontoon is built to international safety standards and designed to withstand tropical marine conditions.
Aprianus Hangki, Head of the Benoa Port Authority, stated: “We have closely monitored the initial installation to ensure full compliance with both national maritime regulations and global safety benchmarks. The execution has met all criteria for operational readiness.”

The pontoons are manufactured locally by SF Marina Indonesia, using licensed technology from SF Marina Sweden. MDI continues to oversee project execution, monitoring quality control and schedule alignment.
“The successful installation of the first pontoons reflects our commitment to technical precision and disciplined project timelines. Dock B marks just the beginning of a larger transformation,” said Joseph Prabantara, Business Development Director at MDI.

Once fully developed, Bali Benoa Marina is set to accommodate up to 180 yachts, including superyachts up to 90-metres, and is expected to contribute to local economic growth through marine tourism.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, MDI also introduced the full master plan for the waterfront development, which will unfold over four key phases. The marina’s waterside operations remain on track for full operational readiness by the third quarter of 2026.
