The City of Dunedin has approved a new construction contract to replace the damaged pier at Dunedin Marina, as recovery efforts continue at the waterfront site following hurricane impacts.

The city commission approved the award to On-Point Contracting Company LLC during its meeting on 8 January 2026. The project covers the removal of the existing pier and the construction of a new fishing pier, together with new day docks and emergency docks at the municipal marina in Dunedin, Florida.

Work to remove the damaged pier is expected to begin in March 2026. Construction of the new pier and dock facilities is planned to finish by the end of 2026.

Restoration at Dunedin Marina has been underway since the site sustained significant damage from Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The city has continued repair work while keeping the marina open to users where possible.

Seawall repairs are moving ahead alongside the pier works. A contract awarded to BDI Marine in July 2025 enabled construction to start on the north seawall in October. Work has since moved to the east seawall, with completion expected in spring 2026.

Earlier improvements at the marina have already been completed. Docks A and B have been stabilised, with plans in place to replace them with floating docks in 2028. New shore power pedestals providing utilities to moored vessels were installed and completed in July 2025.

Dunedin Marina is listed with more than 100 slips, covering commercial, municipal, day-use and recreational moorings, supporting vessels of up to 60ft (18 metres).
