East Gippsland Shire Council has opened expressions of interest for new marina berths at the Slip Road Maritime Precinct in the town of Paynesville in Victoria, Australia, while the final stage of construction continues.

Carter Marine Group

East Gippsland Shire Council will manage the new berths ranging from 12 metres to 28 metres. The design includes floating berthing jetties, with access to power, water and gated entry.

The Slip Road Maritime Precinct redevelopment follows a masterplan and has funding support from the Australian government, the Victorian government and the council. Wider works include seawalls, jetties, a boat ramp, upgraded car parking, boardwalks, pathways, landscaping works, public art installations and an upgraded amenities building.

Work on the precinct began in January 2022, with early piling and fabrication activities completed by Carter Marine Group for marine structures. Updates from the group in May 2026 showed continued activity on site, including work on the boat ramp and service jetty and installation of headstocks, as well as fitting of marina pontoons and other components.

Mayor Jodie Ashworth commented: “Demand for berths across the Gippsland Lakes continues to grow, and this new marina will help meet that need with a modern, fit-for-purpose facility.”

Applications can be submitted through the council’s website or at service centers, and applicants will be contacted once fees and charges are confirmed through the budget process before berth allocation is finalised.
