From 21-22 September, the Monaco Smart & Sustainable Marina Rendezvous will gather marina managers, architects, investors, manufacturers and innovators at the Yacht Club de Monaco to transform sustainable marina concepts into practical solutions. Organised by M3 Monaco with support from the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, the event aims to accelerate the environmental transition while developing connected and human-centred port infrastructures.

“Our mission is to transform visions into concrete actions and jointly implement sustainable solutions that serve communities and speed up the transition to responsible yachting,” said José Marco Casellini, CEO of M3 Monaco.

Now in its fifth year, the rendezvous has become a platform where ideas are translated into real-world projects. Bernard d’Alessandri, YCM General Secretary, stated: “In five years the meeting has become a collective workshop where marinas, architects and innovators develop tangible solutions. It is time now to implement them, by comparing visions and prototypes to sustainably transform port facilities for the long term.”

The agenda this year highlights creating coastal destinations while preserving nature, establishing financial and regulatory frameworks for coastal tourism, and using data analytics to manage marinas responsibly.

Emmanuel Bornand, Vice-President International at Bombardier, said: “We are delighted to support this fifth edition and discuss new innovative solutions with some of the world’s top sustainability leaders. By collaborating across industries, we can harness tangible solutions to collectively build the foundation for a more sustainable future.”

A keynote presentation by the SEA Index Superyacht Eco Association, titled ‘Building the Marinas of Tomorrow Together for Sustainable Yachting’, will highlight the role of ports and marinas in ecological transition. The SEA Index® will also announce a partnership with Pick a Pier to simplify the addition of new marinas to the SEA Index® network. Port managers will receive practical recommendations to support yachts assessed by the SEA Index® tool, strengthening a connected network of sustainable marinas.

Projects from previous editions reflect the event’s impact, including Drones for Yachts, which presented a carbon-free logistics service in 2022 and has since received approval to operate in Monaco. “We are laying the foundations for a new generation of logistics that is efficient, responsible and aligned with stated CSR objectives in the Principality and many other countries at UNOC,” Pierre Deyris, CEO and founder, said.

Startups and scaleups will again showcase solutions, including SMART Dock, a modular quay designed to protect biodiversity, as well as the architectural project ‘The Frame of Venice’, which addresses infrastructure resilience and respecting the Venetian lagoon’s unique environment.
