The City of Cape Coral has reached a milestone in the renovation of the Yacht Club Community Park, having received the final permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers on 1 May 2025. The permit allows work to proceed on the park’s redevelopment, which is expected to be completed by November 2025.

As the plan moves forward, the construction manager will begin soliciting bids for the marine improvement aspects of the project, including marina upgrades, dredging and dock reconfiguration. Bids for the portions are expected to be presented to the Cape Coral City Council in August 2025.

The renovation project includes the relocation of the boat ramp to the Godman Yacht Basin along the Caloosahatchee River, the reconfiguration and replacement of marina docks and the construction of approximately 3,000 linear feet of new seawall. Dredging of over 38,500 square-foot of water will also take place to improve water access and navigation. Additionally, the redevelopment of the 16.6-acre upland area surrounding the marina is part of the ongoing project.

A highlight of the renovation involves the expansion of the marina’s boat slips. The current marina offers 113 boat slips and will be expanded to 158 slips, including 121 marina slips and 27 day docks. The addition of the slips is intended to provide more capacity for boaters as well as improve access for short-term visitors.

The renovation project also addresses environmental considerations, with new signage and management plans being put in place to protect local wildlife, including manatees and sea turtles.

With the final permit now secured, renovations at Cape Coral’s Yacht Club Community Park are moving forward, bringing several improvements to the marina and surrounding areas. With an emphasis on environmental preservation, the improvements are intended to improve the park's usability for both locals and tourists.
