Marina di Cannigione in north-eastern Sardinia, Italy, is nearing the final phase of its €4.8 million ($5.4 million USD) harbour redevelopment after the region allocated €3 million ($3.4 million USD) on 22 September 2026 for the remaining works, while two of three waterfront lots at the marina have already been completed.
Proposed in 2023, the overall harbour project was developed by Arzachena’s municipal public works department. A €472,000 ($538,000) control tower has been completed and is now used by the harbour master’s office, and a €1.378 million ($1.5 million) eastern arm project will start in mid-October 2026 to improve safety and increase the outer pier to 38 berths, in addition to 67 on the northern quays for medium and large vessels. The latest funding will cover the remaining harbour works, including upgrades to water and electricity supplies at the moorings, the fire-fighting system, paving, cladding, lighting and street furniture.
Separate work along the Cannigione waterfront has completed two of three planned phases, covering pavements, electrical systems, road markings, flower beds, greenery and steel railings. The final phase of the project will extend towards the southern entrance to Cannigione and is at the detailed design stage ahead of a tender planned for 2027.
According to Consorzio Marina Cannigione, the marina is close to Porto Cervo, Olbia International Airport and the Costa Smeralda, and offers 34 mooring buoys for vessels from seven to 35 metres, with hauling, boat launching, repairs and winter storage directly and through other operators at the site.
