Benalmádena Marina in Andalusia, Spain, will begin a €2.6 million ($2.9 million USD) refurbishment of its nautical centre in September after awarding the contract to Sardalla Española (Sardesa). The project will modernise the marina facility as part of its wider plan to improve port infrastructure and services.
The 13-month project at the Costa del Sol marina will refurbish one of its main buildings, which was built in 2002, to better suit the needs of users, sailing clubs, businesses and visitors. The works will include the reorganisation of interior spaces, accessibility upgrades, renovation of the building envelope and improvements to existing facilities.
Planned works will also create new public and communal areas within the building, including a new access walkway from the street to the upper terrace, the conversion of the auditorium into a multi-purpose space and upgrades to the catering area.
The nautical centre refurbishment is one of the projects included in the more than €3.6 million ($4.2 million) in pre-VAT investment approved by the board of directors of Puerto Deportivo de Benalmádena in May 2026. The wider programme covers upgrades to electrical infrastructure, the harbour entrance and access systems across the site.
Benalmádena mayor Juan Antonio Lara said the contract award represents “a decisive step towards completing a long-awaited project that will transform one of the most important areas of the marina”.
