Aqua superPower has supported Friuli Venezia Giulia in implementing a €2 million ($2.2 million USD) funding programme to encourage marina electrification, sustainability and innovation across ports and nautical facilities in the region.

The regional government established the funding programme to support marina operators investing in infrastructure improvements and new services. It focuses on technological innovation and projects that contribute to maritime decarbonisation and sustainable tourism across Friuli Venezia Giulia.
The first project completed under the programme is at Portopiccolo, where a 75 kW Aqua superPower marine fast charger for electric boats and two 22 kW electric vehicle chargers have been installed.
Michele Bolpagni, director of commercial strategy at Aqua superPower, said: “Portopiccolo is an excellent example of how public funding can unlock investment in future-ready infrastructure. Rather than focusing solely on charging boats, the project creates a complete electrified marina destination where sustainable mobility is integrated into the entire visitor experience. It is exactly the kind of innovative project this programme was designed to support.”

Alberto Leghissa, port director of Portopiccolo, commented: “Friuli Venezia Giulia has demonstrated genuine leadership by creating a framework that delivers practical results today while laying the foundations for wider adoption tomorrow.”
Leghissa added that the Portopiccolo project shows that electrification can be introduced with the right support mechanisms in place and expressed hope that similar marina projects would be developed across Friuli Venezia Giulia and other regions of Italy.
