Miami-Dade County has completed upgrades at Haulover Park Marina, a widely used public boating facility in Miami Beach. The project focuses on improving day-to-day access, safety and protection from tidal flooding and storm conditions.

The completion was celebrated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony held on Friday, 9 January 2025, at the Haulover Park Marina Boat Launch on the northern end of Haulover Park.

The upgrades included raising parking areas and access roads to limit flood exposure. Two docks were added to help manage vessel traffic, while fixed docks were replaced with floating docks that adjust to changing water levels. Drainage systems, lighting and signage were improved, along with landscaping and site restoration. Vehicle charging stations were also added.

The project cost about $13.8 million USD and was funded through the Building Better Communities General Obligation Bond, a Florida Inland Navigational District grant and funding from the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department.

Miami-Dade County mayor Daniella Levine Cava said: “Investments like this ensure our waterfront remains accessible to the public and resilient to flooding. These improvements strengthen Haulover Park Marina’s ability to serve the community today while preparing for future conditions.”

District 4 commissioner Micky Steinberg said: “Haulover Park Marina is a vital recreational and economic asset for our community. By investing in modern, resilient infrastructure, we are enhancing public access, improving safety and protecting one of our most heavily used waterfront facilities from future flooding and storm impacts for years to come.”
