Dredging works at the Whyalla Marina in South Australia are scheduled to begin on Monday, 10 November 2025, as part of the Whyalla City Council’s programme to maintain the safety and usability of the facility.

The project was awarded to Maritime Constructions following a tender process. The dredging will remove built-up sand and sediment that has reduced the marina’s depth over time, which will allow vessels to safely navigate the area once the work is complete.
Manager Capital Works Delivery Les Jones said: “The works are being carried out under strict environmental controls approved by the Environment Protection Authority, so our marine life – including our friendly dolphins – will remain safe. If any dolphins are sighted near the vessel, work will stop immediately to ensure there are no direct interactions.”
A separate project at the marina is also planned to upgrade the boat ramp, which was recently delayed due to contractor availability. With scheduling now aligned, both the dredging and ramp work are expected to take place around the same time.
