15 August marks only two months until the start of ICOMIA’s World Marinas Conference 2025 (IWMC), taking place on Certosa Island in Venice, Italy, from 15-17 October.

Having been previously held in locations as diverse as Fort Lauderdale, Singapore and Istanbul, IWMC 2025 is a specialist marina conference held approximately every two years, attracting the whole spectrum of marine professionals. These include marina owners, managers, staff, development organisations, manufacturers, start-ups, charter agencies and more.
The conference is overseen by the International Council of Marine Industry Associations, or ICOMIA, which brings together a wide range of marine industry associations into one global organisation to represent them internationally.
By heading to Venice in 2025, ICOMIA will be making its second visit to Italy after having previously taken place in Genoa in 1996. This year’s hosts are Vento di Venezia, the developer of the Certosa Island regeneration programme. This programme has transformed the site from a disused military industrial plant into an area of natural beauty, which is also home to Venezia Certosa Marina.
The programme
IWMC 2025 will begin at 09:30 on 15 October with delegate accreditation, followed by a conference with sessions focusing on the maritime history of Venice, figures and trends in the US marina market, diversity, accessibility and more.
16 October will be dedicated to a tour of 12 marinas stretched across some ten nautical miles of the Venice lagoon. According to IWMC at the time of publication, these will include Marina Fiorita Treporti, Marina Sant’Elena Venezia and Sporting Club di Chioggia. The second day will close with a gala dinner.
The final day of the event - 17 October - will see another full day of conference sessions focusing on new inspirational and state-of-the-art projects, international regulations, risk management, innovation in floating structures and other topics.
With three keynote speakers being the former President of ICOMIA, Darren Vaux; the CEO of Australia’s Marina Industries Association, Suzanne Davies; and Roberto Perocchio of Assomarinas, the ICOMIA World Marinas Conference 2025 is shaping up to be another must-attend event in the marina industry calendar.
