Tewitfield Marina, a canalside marina and holiday accommodation site in Lancashire, United Kingdom, has been placed on the market. The property is owned by leisure and tourism business Lake District Estates. Christie & Co, a specialist adviser in leisure property, has been appointed to market the freehold business.

Located on the Lancaster Canal in Tewitfield near Carnforth, the marina includes more than 50 moorings for narrowboats and cruisers. Alongside the marina, the site also features 33 holiday apartments that can accommodate up to 134 guests.

Planning permission allows the apartments to operate for 50 weeks each year, while the marina moorings can be used throughout the year. The site also has consent for 10 additional apartments, which could increase the accommodation capacity by 22 guests.

The business receives income from mooring fees, service charges, ground rents and property sales.

“We are incredibly proud of what we have achieved with Tewitfield Marina and of the talented team who helped develop the business. However, as our portfolio evolves, it is our intention to focus our energy and investment on the areas where we have scale. This decision supports us in this aim and the operation of Tewitfield Marina will continue as normal throughout the sale process,” said Richard Lancaster, chairman of Lake District Estates.

“The business has been carefully developed and managed, and presents an excellent opportunity for new owners to build on its success. We expect interest from a wide range of parties, including holiday park operators, leisure investors and those seeking a strategic leisure business foothold in the region,” said Jon Patrick, head of leisure & development at Christie & Co.
