Work began on the Shellharbour Boathouse at the Shell Cove Waterfront Precinct in late April 2026. The project is led by Shellharbour City Council and NSW Government to support boating activities and marine services along the east coast.

Located at the entrance to Shell Cove Marina, the project is expected to serve both recreational and commercial vessels. Plans include enclosed dry-stack storage for at least 120 vessels, designed to accommodate lengths of up to 10 metres.
A dedicated haul-out and hard stand area will also be available for vessels of up to 30 metres. The site will include office, retail and workshop spaces for marine-related businesses, along with onsite parking for access.

Funding includes $10,000,000 AUD (around $7.1 million USD) from the NSW government’s Regional Tourism Activation Fund Round 2.
The design had reached 80 percent completion before the contract was awarded to Hutchinson Builders, with site investigations beginning on 24 November 2025 to support the final stages of design.
Construction is expected to continue until June 2027, with the boathouse scheduled to open in July 2027.
