Seager Marine of Canandaigua has acquired R&K Marina on Rushford Lake in Allegany County, New York, expanding its operations in the state. The deal will retain the existing marina team and introduce new services, including additional rental options and a Freedom Boat Club location, as reported by Kevin Oklobzija of the Rochester Business Journal.

R&K Marina has served Rushford Lake for more than 50 years, providing boat sales, rentals, storage and maintenance. Its lineup includes brands such as Nautique, Bennington and Regal.

Scott Walter, who has operated the marina with his wife Julie since 2004, emphasises the community aspect of the business. “R&K Marina has always been about more than boats – it’s about community. We’re excited to see Seager Marine carry that mission forward and bring new energy and resources to Rushford Lake,” he said.

Seager Marine co-owner John Holland said the acquisition aligns with the company’s goal of broadening services and maintaining local connections. “We are thrilled to welcome R&K Marina into the Seager Marine family. Rushford Lake is a special destination for boaters and families, and we look forward to building on R&K Marina’s strong reputation while introducing new services and improvements for our customers,” Holland stated.

Founded in 1967 on Canandaigua Lake, Seager Marine has grown across the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier, including the acquisition of East Bluff Harbor Marine in Penn Yan in June 2025.

Co-owner Peter Coons noted: “The acquisition strengthens Seager Marine’s presence in New York’s Southern Tier. Integrating a small marina like R&K into our family allows us to preserve the personal, community-focused spirit that makes it special, while adding the resources and expertise of a larger organisation.”

With the deal complete, Seager Marine now oversees facilities across New York, including its Canandaigua City Pier site and a Parrish Street service centre.
