The president and CEO of Seaflex, Lars Brandt, has been recognised as the “Entrepreneur of the Year” at Umeågalan, an event celebrating the local business community in the northern Swedish city of Umeå on 20 November.
The event also saw Seaflex awarded the “Export Company of the Year” title, after having first won the award at the gala some 20 years ago. The event was organised by Umeå Municipality with the support of the Västerbotten region chamber of commerce. The awards were presented by the “Entrepreneurs of Umeå” group.
In a post on LinkedIn, Seaflex said they were “incredibly proud” to have been recognised as the export company of the year, and that to receive two awards among “so many accomplished peers in the Umeå region [was] truly humbling”.
“Our warm thanks also go to the jury for the careful work behind these recognitions and to the artists who performed during the gala,” the post continued. “You created an atmosphere that made the evening a true memory of a lifetime. Congratulations also to all nominees, finalists and winners at this year’s gala. The variety of talent and innovation represented across the Umeå region is extraordinary. Being included among you is a privilege.”

Seaflex is an industry-leading inventor and producer of elastic mooring systems for docks, pontoons, wave attenuators, buoys and floating solar arrays. The company’s story began in the 1960s when Lars Brandt’s father, Bertil, invented a highly durable compound rubber. The first pontoon with a Seaflex mooring system was installed in Sweden in 1975.
