A marina precinct located north of Brisbane has been sold for $12.25 million AUD to Gold Coast developer Ignite Projects. The site, currently known as Spinnaker Sound Marina, will be renamed Sandstone Point Marina as part of a planned redevelopment that aims to revitalise the waterfront precinct, according to reports by The Hotel Conversation and Australian Property Markets News.

The sale includes three adjoining development sites at 9-11, 12-14 and 13-19 Spinnaker Drive, Sandstone Point, encompassing over 200 wet and dry marina berths, a retail centre with a marina office, restaurants, cafés and 2,349sqm of development land.
JLL agents Liam Cox and Christian Tsalikis managed the sale through an expressions of interest campaign, which attracted interest nationally and internationally. Cox highlighted the rarity of such a marina development site coming to market, noting the campaign drew “a lot of interest from across Australia and abroad”.
The marina provides access to Moreton Bay, Bribie Island and the Pumicestone Passage, as well as international boating routes to the Asia-Pacific region. Tsalikis pointed out the site’s location also attracted attention ahead of the 2032 Olympic Games, with the potential to capitalise on regional growth.
Ignite Projects’ director Josh Foote, who has experience in marine developments, will lead the precinct’s transformation. Foote described the marina as “a key piece of infrastructure that is significant in shaping the future growth of Moreton Bay”. The redevelopment will include rebranding the marina as Sandstone Point Marina.
The vision for the site includes creating a community-driven precinct focused on dining, leisure and waterside connection. This will feature green public spaces, shared amenities and a waterfront residential development of 67 homes named Anchorage.
Currently, the marina offers a range of boat maintenance services, including antifouling, mechanical repairs, fibreglass work and detailing. Its fuel dock supplies diesel, premium and unleaded fuels.
The facility accommodates motor vessels up to 20 metres and offers dry stack storage for boats up to seven metres via a Marine Travelift M2000 forklift. Additional storage options include hardstand storage for vessels up to eight metres, plus trailer boat and caravan storage.
