Szkuner, the Puck County-owned company that manages the Port of Władysławowo in northern Poland, received 26.1 million PLN (approximately $7 million USD) under the European Funds for Pomerania 2021-2027 programme to expand the port’s marina.
Established in 1938, the Port of Władysławowo, at the base of the Hel Peninsula, serves fishing, coastal shipping and other maritime activities, with capacity for commercial vessels of up to 70 metres in length. Szkuner manages the port and provides services for the fishing and maritime sectors, including technical cargo handling, vessel support, access to port infrastructure, warehousing and storage.
Tourism has also been part of the port’s activities since 1994, with sea cruises and other coastal activities available to visitors, while its marina, which opened in 2002, can accommodate up to 12 vessels and serves local and international sailors.
With its location along the coastline between Hel and Łeba, the marina faces a shortage of suitable places where vessels can safely moor or seek shelter during poor weather. The municipality said an expansion on the open-sea side of the port will improve navigation safety and provide more shelter for vessels using this part of the Baltic coast.
To address this need, Szkuner prepared the “Expansion of the yacht marina at the Port of Władysławowo” project, with a total cost of more than 30.8 million PLN ($8.2 million), of which exactly 26,195,420.04 PLN ($7 million) now comes from the European Regional Development Fund.
The authorities said the expanded marina will give sailors and visitors more opportunities to use the port, adding that it will also support the development of its sporting, recreational and tourism activities by making greater use of its coastal location and the sailing potential of the Puck region, without changing its existing fishing and maritime functions.
