A marina project has been inaugurated in Ras al Hadd’s Khor al Hajar to enhance fisheries operations and marine tourism, according to Muscat Daily. The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources held the ceremony under the patronage of H.E. Yaqub bin Khalfan al Busaidi, Undersecretary for Fisheries.

Developed with support from Oman LNG, the marina is designed to improve safety for local fishermen and support sustainable economic development in the coastal area.
Saeed bin Juma al Araimi, Director of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources Department in Ras al Hadd, said the area is regarded as a key hub for fish production in the governorate, and the marina is expected to strengthen this role by encouraging investment and expanding opportunities for marine tourism.
Bassem bin Nasser al Batashi, Director of the Sustainable Development Department at Oman LNG Development Foundation, said the project cost 250,000 Omani rial (more than $650,000 USD). The budget covers geological studies, site preparation, rock removal and construction of a breakwater and boat ramp. Eco-friendly features, such as renewable energy-powered lighting, were also included.
The marina consists of a 100-metre breakwater, a 12-metre-wide boat ramp and a paved platform.
