Metarina has announced its partnership with Marina Development Indonesia (MDI) to provide the enterprise technology framework for Bali Gapura Marina, Indonesia’s first international-standard marina, scheduled to open for a pilot commercial phase in November 2025.

The collaboration makes Metarina the central technology and innovation partner for MDI, connecting operational systems across the new marina and supporting the expansion of its broader network throughout Southeast Asia.
Bali Gapura Marina is being developed by MDI and PT Pelabuhan Indonesia as part of the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub. The marina will feature 180 berths, including capacity for superyachts up to 90 metres.
“We needed more than just software. We needed a strategic partner who could serve as the centrepiece connecting all our innovations,” said Ulf Backlund, Chief Executive Officer of MDI. “Metarina’s dynamic team enables us to lead in technology innovation rather than constantly playing catch-up. They’re helping us stay ahead of the tech curve, not just respond to it, but use it to drive growth and efficiency.”

Metarina’s enterprise platform allows marinas to coordinate multiple operational systems from a single interface. The platform links access control, payments, Internet of Things devices and customer-facing services. The company also provides planning and advisory support, enabling operators to manage digital systems without large internal technology teams.
“Our journey from serving individual Mediterranean marinas to partnering with visionary groups like MDI proves that the industry is ready for a new paradigm. We’re not just providing software, we’re becoming the technology and innovation department for leading marinas worldwide,” said Henry Hooper, CEO of Metarina.
Metarina was recently recognised as the scaleup of the year at the Smart & Sustainable Marinas Rendezvous in Monaco. According to Victor Meyer from M3 Monaco, “Metarina received this recognition for its role in rethinking how technology can support marina managers. Metarina’s different approach shows that meaningful change can be achieved; not by refining existing frameworks, but by developing adaptable solutions that reflect the evolving realities of today’s marinas.”
