The new marina basin at Marina de Lagos in southern Portugal is scheduled to open in mid-September 2026 as the first phase of the expansion nears completion. Construction began in February 2026 with the first pile placed on the left bank of the Bensafrim River.

Work on the basin has included the installation of pontoons and related marine facilities. Once opened, the area will provide 100 new berths for vessels between 12-30 metres in length, including spaces suitable for catamarans.

Designed for larger vessels, the additional berths under the Marina de Lagos & Yacht Club project are expected to provide more options for yachts visiting Lagos and support both short and longer stays by leisure boat owners.

According to Marina de Lagos, the marina’s location near Meia Praia and in the centre of Lagos places the expansion along cruising routes connecting the Atlantic, the Mediterranean and the Portuguese coast.

A second phase of the project is scheduled to begin construction later this year and will include the yacht club and outdoor public areas.
