Marina Cala de’ Medici and the municipal council of Rosignano Marittimo have reached an agreement on new berthing arrangements at the tourist port, allowing space to be designated for commercial vessels and professional fishing boats after years of administrative delays in securing the required permits.
Under the agreement, a 15-metre section of quay near the marina’s shipyard area will be allocated for commercial use, providing mooring space for around four to five vessels measuring up to 10-12 metres. The area will support fishing activities by allowing the loading and unloading of materials, passengers, nets and equipment for professional fishermen and fishing-tourism operations.
The port is also exploring plans to create a dedicated berth for a “mini-ferry” service connecting the marina with Capraia Island or Elba Island, following the example of the existing connection between Marina di Campo and Pianosa.
Located along Tuscany’s Etruscan Coast, Marina Cala de’ Medici has 650 berths for vessels between eight and 36 metres in length, along with nine pontoons used for pleasure boats.
