The Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry has granted Biosecurity Entry Point status to Jones Bay Superyacht Marina in Pyrmont, Sydney, effective 27 March 2026. The designation allows the marina to receive international vessels under Australia’s biosecurity requirements.
Located close to Sydney’s central business district and near Darling Harbour, the marina is designed to accommodate superyachts, with berths suitable for vessels ranging from 20 to over 100 metres in length.
The marina includes berths equipped with three-phase power ranging from 32 to 500 amps, as well as waste handling, pump-out services, on-site amenities and service access for maintenance.
David Good, CEO of Superyacht Australia said: “Jones Bay Superyacht Marina now has the largest superyacht berth in Sydney and one of the largest on Australia’s east coast, making it a natural clearance point for vessels entering the country. With the superyacht sector contributing over $3 billion annually to the Australian economy and supporting more than 22,000 jobs, streamlined access through facilities like Jones Bay will further strengthen industry growth and economic impact.”
Now the third facility on Sydney Harbour to receive entry point status, the marina meets the requirements under the Biosecurity Regulation 2016, including protocols for handling international arrivals, managing controlled waste, maintaining secure berthing, staff training and coordination with relevant authorities.
Marina Manager Scott Cotton said: “This recognition is a significant achievement for our team and reflects years of investment in systems, training and infrastructure to meet the highest national biosecurity standards. It enables us to provide a seamless and compliant arrival experience for international superyachts, while supporting Australia’s strict biosecurity framework.”
The marina is expected to receive international superyachts each year, mainly from the South Pacific region, including Fiji, Tahiti, Vanuatu and New Zealand, with activity anticipated to increase between October and April.
