Dubai Marina Yacht Club and Creek Marina Yacht Club will begin supplying bio-based yacht fuel following a collaboration between Emaar Hospitality Group and Lootah Biofuels. The move places both marinas among the early locations in the Gulf to offer this fuel type for leisure marine use.

Sustainable bio yacht fuel (SBYF) will be available at designated refuelling points within both marina facilities. Yacht owners and club members will be able to access the fuel at their home berths. The fuel is produced from recycled cooking oil collected from hotels, residential communities and Emaar-operated developments.
Nicolas Belleton of Emaar Hospitality Group said: “Sustainability is at the heart of how we operate across our marinas and hospitality assets. By introducing sustainable bio yacht fuel, we are giving our members a tangible, responsible choice that aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 goals, while setting a new standard for eco-innovation in the leisure marine sector.”
Fuel supply at both marinas will follow a phased operational approach. The structure is intended to support fuel quality and operational reliability over time. During the initial stage, refuelling will take place on a scheduled basis, with further expansion dependent on demand.
Lootah Biofuels will manage the collection, processing and supply of SBYF to both marina locations. The company specialises in biodiesel blends made from used cooking oil, with its products showing lower carbon emissions compared with conventional marine fuel.
Yousif Saeed Lootah, CEO of Lootah Biofuels, said: “We are proud to partner with Emaar to bring sustainable bio yacht fuel to Dubai’s leisure marine sector. This initiative demonstrates how locally sourced waste materials can be transformed into high-value energy solutions, supporting both environmental and operational progress across the UAE.”
Dubai Marina Yacht Club holds both Fish Friendly and Clean Marina accreditations. The marina also operates a drinking water system that uses air water technology to convert atmospheric humidity into potable water, which has supplied captains and crew over the past year.
Dubai Marina Yacht Club includes the East Marina and West Bay Marina, with berthing for more than 550 yachts along the Dubai Marina waterfront. Creek Marina Yacht Club is located within Dubai Creek Harbour and provides berthing for more than 80 yachts.
