East Dover Marina has operated since 1963 and is located along the Toms River with access to Barnegat Bay. The marina was founded by Richard and Marjorie Weitzel and later passed to their son and daughter-in-law, Rick and Valerie Weitzel.

The facility provides summer slips, winter storage, Sea-Doo personal watercraft sales and servicing, MerCruiser engine servicing and travel lift access up to 40ft (12 metres).

In a letter, Rick and Valerie said: “This marina has been a centrepiece in our lives through generations. Although we are stepping away, the marina will remain, but with new owners at the helm. D&R Boats will take over the business in our absence, with the same friendly environment and excellent service.”

D&R Boats was founded in 1956 and operates under fourth-generation Barone family ownership. The acquisition adds marina operations to the company’s dealership activities, which also include boat sales and servicing across the state.

Operations at the marina will continue during the transition, with further updates expected in the coming months.

Robert Barone, owner of D&R Boats, said: “East Dover Marina has a long-standing reputation in the Toms River community, and we are committed to investing in the property, enhancing customer services and building on its legacy.”
