More than 20 ACI marinas have secured concessions through 2058 after the Government of Croatia approved the extensions on 1 October. Spanning around 6,000 berths along the Adriatic coast, the marina network has approximately €140 million ($157 million USD) in investment planned.

According to Croatia’s ministry of the sea, transport and infrastructure, the government approved ACI’s request to extend concessions due to expire in 2030 by 28 years, covering two sets of earlier concession decisions. The amendments include Umag, Rovinj, Pomer, Opatija, Cres, Supetarska Draga, Jezera, Vodice, Split and Dubrovnik under one set, and Pula, Rab, Šimuni, Žut, Skradin, Trogir, Milna, Vrboska, Palmižana, Piškera and Korčula under the second.
In a separate shareholder announcement, ACI provided the new concession dates and also included ACI Marina Veljko Barbieri in Slano, which opened in 2016 as the network’s 22nd marina. The first set runs through 10 November 2058, while most of the remaining marinas, including Slano, have marina concessions through 31 December 2058. Šimuni has a separate concession period, which runs through 27 July 2058.

The new terms also increase concession fees, and payments to public budgets over the concession period are expected to reach about €700 million ($789 million), including 76.23 percent for the state budget, 10.19 percent for counties and 13.58 percent for cities and municipalities. The concession areas cover more than 11 hectares in total, and new maps are being prepared to align them with spatial plans.
The ministry said the longer concession periods are intended to support continued investment and help maintain the marina network’s position in Croatia’s nautical tourism sector. It expects the extensions to support around 380 jobs, generate revenue for national and local budgets, and support further improvements in services, safety and environmental protection.
