Brentwood Marina officially opened on 6 April on Offatt’s Bayou in Galveston, Texas, following a three-year development led by a local father-and-son team, with the facility offering both dry storage and wet slips.

The marina is located off Interstate 45 at the 71st Street exit along Broadway Street and provides access to the Intracoastal Canal, East Bay and the Gulf through the jetties. It offers assistance with launching, fuelling and vessel preparation, along with boat cleaning and supplies.

Behind the development are managing partners Steve Streller and Joey Streller, who have experience in real estate development and boating.

In an interview with Marina World, Joey shared that the idea grew out of their attempt to keep a boat in Galveston but could not find a suitable option. What began as a discussion later developed into a project after they identified available land and decided to pursue it.

Work on the marina began in 2023, with Joey saying the team prioritised quality and describing the construction approach as “overkill”, with longevity and maintenance in mind.

The facility includes 167 dry storage spaces and 28 wet slips, with capacity for vessels up to 42ft (about 13 metres) in length. The project is expected to increase the number of wet slips to more than 90 in later phases, with overall capacity reaching around 260 berths.

Brentwood Marina partnered with Coastal Marine Management, led by Scott Bert and Caitlin Jewett, while Roof and Rack supplied the steel building, and Lucas Construction was responsible for the site development.

Joey stated that the marina has already received early interest, with enquiries and reservations coming in ahead of full operations. “The marina has great visibility, so a lot of it has been word of mouth or people driving by. There hasn’t been a new marina developed in Galveston in a very long time, so it’s creating a lot of buzz. People are excited about it, just like we are.”
