Berkeley County’s Mega Boat Landing, formerly Atkins Boat Landing/Lions Beach, is scheduled to open in May 2026. Located in Moncks Corner, South Carolina, the 15-acre site on Lake Moultrie is being renovated and expanded to improve public access and facilities.

The landing will have six boat ramps with docks able to launch and recover up to 16 boats. Dock space will be provided for approximately 36 boats, supported by a dredged area and a 565ft (172 metres) break wall.
The site is expected to include a 390sqm open-air event pavilion, a walking trail, two beaches covering more than 5,300sqm, picnic shelters, benches and a public restroom. The existing pavilion is being remodelled to over 670 metres for rental purposes. Additional features include a flagpole, 185 parking spaces for vehicles and 185 spaces for boat trailers.
The site will include a Safe Boat enclosure and a separate dock. Emergency call stations, security cameras and free Wi-Fi will be available, and power will be provided for vendors during events.
“This project represents a significant investment in our community’s quality of life. Residents have expressed the need for improved access to our beautiful waterways, and reviving this former landing and beach into a waterfront park delivers on that promise. We look forward to this site bringing people together and providing a lasting benefit for generations to come,” said Johnny Cribb, Berkeley County Supervisor.
The total cost of the project is approximately $10.5 million USD. Funding comes from the Berkeley County Delegation “Water Recreation Funds,” Berkeley County Accommodations Tax Funds, South Carolina state budget appropriations and a US Fish & Wildlife Service grant administered through the SC Department of Natural Resources. Additional work is being performed in-house by Berkeley County departments.
In July 2021, Berkeley County, in partnership with Santee Cooper, announced plans for the project. Santee Cooper approved a long-term lease for the site and is overseeing the design and permitting of marine elements, including the docks and breakwater.
